THE FLIGHT

The butterflies
do not sit still.

The defining detail is the three dimensional butterfly appliqué. Rather than concentrating the decoration in one area, the butterflies create a visual route from the structured waist toward the skirt.

Beneath the butterflies, layered tulle creates the atmosphere that makes them feel suspended. The fabric is soft and full, allowing the appliqués to appear as though they are moving above the surface rather than simply decorating it.

The fitted waist acts as the center of the composition. From there, the skirt releases into a broad A line and then into full Ball Gown volume, giving the silhouette its signature twirling effect.

For the rounded silhouette shown in the photographs, a 4 or 6 hoop crinoline is strongly recommended. Without additional support underneath, the heavy layered tulle can fall flatter and may drag while walking.

Before the celebration

CORSET FIT

The structured bodice has very little give. Accurate bust and waist measurements are important. The lace up back provides approximately two inches of adjustment around the waist.

UNDERLAYER

The skirt is lined, but seamless nude shapewear can create a smoother foundation around the fitted waist and hips.

MOVEMENT

Because the skirt is extremely full, dancing and crowded spaces require some awareness. Holding the skirt slightly while moving can prevent stepping on the hem.

Are the 3D butterfly appliqués securely attached?
Yes. They are stitched onto the dress, although the raised wings are delicate and should be protected from jewelry, rough surfaces and doorways.
Does the strapless bodice need a bra?
The corset includes built in cups and strong boning, so an additional bra is generally not necessary. A sticky backless bra can be used if you prefer extra lift.
Is the lavender color more purple or more blue?
It is a soft lavender with a light purple character rather than a deep royal purple. The pale tone works particularly well with the white and translucent details of the skirt.
Do I need a petticoat or hoop skirt?
Yes, if you want the very full bell shape shown in the photos. A 4 or 6 hoop crinoline can give the layered tulle enough lift and keep the hem from collapsing inward.
Does the lace up back make the dress easier to fit?
Yes. The lace up corset back gives roughly two inches of flexibility around the waist. The bust and hips remain more structured, so those measurements should still be taken carefully.
Can I dance comfortably in such a full ball gown?
You can dance, but the skirt is very wide. For faster movement, lift the front slightly with your hands to avoid stepping on the hem.
Is the skirt see through?
No. The skirt has a solid satin lining beneath the tulle. Seamless nude shapewear is still recommended for a clean finish around the fitted areas.
Can I request custom measurements?
Yes. Custom measurements are recommended when the standard size chart does not closely match your bust, waist and hip measurements, especially because the bodice is structured and fitted.
