We went through like three different dresses before we landed on this emerald satin one for my daughters masquerade homecoming. The color was a total accident, I was just so sick of seeing all the black and silver numbers everywhere, but it ended up photographing so good, even in that awful gym lighting they always use for these things. Big save there.

Here’s where we messed up though—the sizing. Shes a gymnast, so tiny frame, zero waist definition. I ordered the 0 thinking it would be safe but the waist was huge on her right out of the package.

Don't freak out if that happens to you, because the lace up corset back actually helped cinch it alot, but we still had to run it to the tailor for a quick side seam nip.

Factor that into your budget for sure cause its like 20 bucks, no biggie. Also, pro tip, those zipper backs are the worst, this lacing system is so much more forgiving espically if they grow like an inch between ordering and the dance or have a random growth spurt.

The fabric was surprisingly thick, which I was nervous about cause alot of those cheaper satin homecoming dress are basically see-through. I held it up to the window and zero light peaked through, thank goodness. The built in cups meant no strapless bra drama, which is a mom win because she would have been tugging at it all night long and been self concious.

The skirt hits mid thigh which the school was fine with dress code wise and it swooshes around when she dances without riding up to high.

We paired it with silver block heels—definately go block over stilletos, she was on her feet for hours and actually still wanted to hit the afterparty—and a little feather mask that matched the green. Hair was just loose waves, nothing to fancy. Makeup we kept simple but did a swipe of emerald shadow to tie it together, nothing heavy.

If your daughter is built like mine, just size down or budget for alterations. It was worth the splurge though because she came home happy, no rips, no weird sweat stains, and we got a million good pictures.

So yeah, go for the emerald green, its way more unique then those basic colors and it looked just as good outside in the sun as it did under the disco ball. Seriously, save yourself the headache and just get this one.
