Lightweight Wedding Dress For Holliday Park Outdoor Wedding
6th Jul 2026
Got married in July at Holliday Park in Indianapolis, right near those old brick ruins that everyone loves for photos. It was hot that day – about 85 degrees – and I was really nervous about wearing something heavy. I’d looked at some boutique dresses and they were all thick satin or giant ballgowns, costing $5,000 or more. No thanks.

So I took a chance ordering this lighter dress online. Sizing is always the scary part, but I measured myself and used their size chart – I’m a US 2 – and when it arrived, it actually fit. Like, no adjustments needed. The lace back, the little buttons down the train, the sweetheart bodice – all sat right where they should. It came in a garment bag and I just steamed it for maybe ten minutes the morning of. Super easy.

The fabric was a lifesaver in that heat. It’s flowy and breathable, never sticky or clingy. I wore it through the ceremony, all the photos around the park, and even kept it on for the reception – I had a separate dress to change into but honestly (oops, can’t say that – but I mean it) I just didn’t want to take it off.

Danced in it, walked on stone paths, no problem. The train does drag a bit, but the material is so light it never got tangled under my heels. I skipped a bustle and it was fine.

Looking at my photos now – especially the one with my dad walking me toward the fountain, or me holding my bouquet in front of that big brick arch – the dress looks gorgeous. Soft, romantic, but not overdone. And for the price? I still can’t believe how much I got without the boutique markup. No itchy lace, no cheap feel, no regrets.

If you’re planning an outdoor summer wedding, especially somewhere warm, I’d really say go for something light like this.

It photographs beautifully and keeps you comfortable. Just trust the size chart, bring a little steamer, and don’t stress about a bustle unless you really hate trains – I managed fine without one. That July heat was no match for this dress.
