It was this pale yellow off-shoulder mini, all lace and sparkles on top, tulle skirt that fluffed out like crazy. I almost didn’t buy it because yellow is risky for a wedding guest right? But my homegirl said go for it and thank God she did because I walked in and caught like three heads turning immediately. Not gonna lie that felt good.

The top has those little sequins that catch the chandelier light—super pretty but also a pain cause one kept poking my arm and I had to adjust it like five times during dinner. But whatever, small price to pay. I threw on an ivory cowboy hat with some glitter trim, nothing too huge cause I didn’t wanna look like I was cosplaying a rodeo queen.

And then the boots—white tall fringe ones with gold stitching. They looked amazing but let me tell you, my feet were screaming by the end of the night. I literally kicked them off under the table during the cake cutting and danced barefoot for the last hour. Nobody noticed cause the floor was hardwood and smooth so it worked out.

The venue was super cute—old barn vibes but fancy, with flowers everywhere and this massive charcuterie table that I definitely hit up twice. I think I ate more cheese than I talked to people. Also Annie’s mom kept refilling my champagne so I might have gotten a little loud during the speeches. Oops.

Anyway the funniest part was how many women came up to me saying they’d never think to pair cowboy boots with a tulle dress for a wedding. And I’m like girl it’s just about balancing—sparkly stuff with rustic stuff, keep the colors light so nothing clashes. But also I totally stole that hat from my cousin last minute so don’t ask me where to buy it cause I don’t even know.

So yeah if you’ve got a barn or garden wedding coming up and you’re tired of those boring dusty rose slip dresses, try a bright yellow mini dress with western accessories. Just be prepared to dance with your shoes off and maybe spill a little red wine on the tulle cause I definitely did and it didn’t even show that much thank goodness.

Oh and keep jewelry simple—I only wore my thin gold chain cause anything else would’ve been too busy with all that lace and fringe.
